Tractors and Trains

On August 9th, experience a unique blend of history and adventure at the Monticello Railway Museum's Tractors and Trains event! This special event offers something for everyone, with antique tractors and an exciting diesel train excursion.

Event Details:

  • Antique Tractor Showcase
    Explore a collection of beautifully preserved and restored antique tractors. Learn about their history, craftsmanship, and impact on farming through the decades.

  • Weekend Diesel Train Excursion
    Enjoy a scenic train ride on our vintage diesel train departing from Nelson Crossing depot. Choose from three departure times:

  • 11:00 AM

  • 12:30 PM

  • 2:00 PM

Train Excursion Information

  • Adults: $15.00

  • Seniors (62 and older): $12.00

  • Children (2 through 12): $8.00

  • Children (under 2): Free (with adult fare)

Exhibitor Information

Line-Up and Arrival

  • Exhibitor line-up begins at 9:00 AM at the Museum’s main campus, located at 992 Iron Horse Place in Monticello, Illinois.

  • Event staff will be on-site to direct you to parking and your display area.

Show Details

  • Tractor show officially begins at 10:00 AM.

  • All types of tractors are welcome! This includes:

    • Steam-powered tractors

    • Gasoline and diesel tractors

    • Oil Pull engines

    • Garden tractors and small-scale machines

  • Our tractor display area is a scenic 5-acre park with grass and mature trees—perfect for a relaxed and shady exhibit space

  • The show runs throughout the day alongside museum train operations and family activities

  • Restrooms and food vendors available nearby

Parking

  • We offer plenty of on-site parking for both trucks and trailers. No need to worry about space or access—everything is designed with exhibitors in mind.

Exhibitors receive a complimentary wristband for a free train ride!
