On August 9, the Monticello Railway Museum will host the Sunset Photo Special! Whether you’re a seasoned railroad photographer or simply enjoy the art of railroading through a camera lens, this is your chance to step behind the scenes and photograph scenes that can’t be captured during normal museum hours. This special photo charter event will feature approximately 3 hours of staged photo opportunities around the museum’s main campus.

Event Details:
• The iconic Wabash F7A No. 1189 will lead some of the museum’s restored Illinois Central streamlined passenger equipment and will perform several photo run-bys at photogenic locations around the main museum campus, such as Stair Tower, Nelson Crossing, and more.
• The event will begin at 5:00 PM and end at approximately 8:00 PM, taking advantage of prime golden hour and sunset lighting.

Ticket Information:
• Ticket price is $75 (Ages 18+)
• This event has a maximum of 30 tickets available.
• Please note: Tickets purchased for Weekend Train Rides during the day do not include admission to the photo charter.

General Information:
• It is recommended that all participants arrive 20-30 minutes early to allow for the check in process at the ticket office in the Nelson Crossing depot. Once everyone has been checked in, a mandatory safety briefing will be held for all participants before the event begins.

•This event will require participants who get on and off the train multiple times and do a lot of walking, particularly on uneven terrain. The museum requires that only able-bodied individuals equipped with sturdy closed toe shoes and long pants to attend.

•This event will run rain or shine.
