29th annual School Days
Tuesday, May 4 and Wednesday, May 12
School Days is an opportunity for school children to ride a full-sized diesel powered train and see displays of America's railroad heritage. Students will take a round trip train ride on vintage coaches for approximately 30 minutes. You can see an optional Operation Lifesaver presentation as well as tour railway cars which may include post office car, sleeping cars, and caboose.
Please allow approximately 1½ to 2 hours to ride the train and view the exhibits. Since many school field trips require parents to pay admission costs, teachers are advised that no student should be excluded because of inability to pay the cost of admission. To make your visit more enjoyable, we are limiting the number of passengers per train. Please make your reservations early.
Costs: Students $3.00
Teachers, Chaperones, Bus Drivers Free
Facilities: Restrooms, gift shop, and shaded picnic area on Museum grounds.
Location: Museum is located on Iron Horse Place just south of Interstate 72, exit 166 at Monticello, Illinois, 20 miles south-west of Champaign and 20 miles north east of Decatur.
