The museum is open weekends May through October. You may board the train at the Nelson Crossing depot at the museum or the Wabash Depot in downtown Monticello. Layovers at either depot are encouraged. You can walk through the museum cars and view many pieces of rolling stock at the museum site, as well as visit the gift shop.
Normally our trains are pulled by one of our vintage diesel locomotives. To find out when our steam locomotive Southern #401 will be pulling the trains, see the steam schedule here.

Cab Rides
Diesel Cab Rides are available on most weekends on a first come, first serve basis for a $30.00 donation over the cost of that day's adult full-cost fare. Cab Rides may not be available on special event weekends and a maximum of two people can be accommodated on the same trip.
